I have always marvelled at these two words.
Inspiration. The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
Motivation. The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.
So similar.
So different.
From where I sit, inspiration can come from anywhere. Inside or outside of yourself.
Quite often we watch a motivational video, listen to a motivational speech, and are INSPIRED to act.
But do we?
Sometimes yes.
But I feel the difference is here – the motivation always come from within.
It is not that inspiration cannot cause motivation – in the right space, with the right person, you will be motivated to move into action.
But inspiration without action is not meaningless, but almost.
For me, the MO of motivation comes from MOVEMENT.
If you are motivated, you MOve.
If you are inspired, you might, but you might not.
A great many people ask me to motivate them.
That can only come from within.
Inspiration, no problem – I can do that.
Motivation, you are gonna have to put your boots on my friend.
